2.: Understanding the role and function of the Youth, Magistrates and Crown Courts, and to service them as necessary.
3.Acting as Courts Officer and attending Crown Court as a representative of the Youth Offending Team.
4.Contributing to the overall assessments, including risk assessments, on young people entering the criminal justice system, identifying factors that have led to their offending.
5.Liaising with Social Services in respect of services for young offenders i.e. services, in respect of services for children in need, children looked after and child protection services.
6.Providing sentence planning, throughcare and post release supervision for young people serving detention and training orders and other custodial sentences.
7.Encouraging reparation (directly or indirectly) to victims by offenders.
8.Working with parents of young offenders and those at risk of offending, individually, and in groups, to support them, and assist them gain the necessary skills and confidence in parenting their child/young person at risk of offending.
Engaging with local agencies and communities in the early identification of children at risk of offending, and working with them in developing programmes and activities to prevent offending.
